There's a place for everyone to be involved at St. Pius X

Commissions: With the advent of the second Vatican Council, much emphasis was placed on the role and involvement of all Catholics in the work of the Church. In order to provide more opportunities for parishioners to be involved in the activities within St. Pius X, the Pastoral Council has identified six commissions that address major areas of parish life.

Vocation Prayer Crucifix Program : This program has been developed to promote fervent and devotional prayer for an increase in vocations to the diocesan priesthood and the consecrated religious life.  This program offers a method that encourages praying for religious and priestly vocations in the Catholic families/households of St. Pius X Catholic Church parishioners.
The Vocations committee has provided a free-standing crucifix for this program. Families/households from the parish will be invited to host the Vocation Crucifix in their home for a period of one week.  By accepting the crucifix, the family/household agrees to pray for religious and priestly vocations during that week.  After the week has expired, the Vocation Crucifix is passed to another parish family/household after one of the weekend Masses in the parish.  The importance of praying for vocations is thus kept alive and prominent before the parish community. There will be two handbooks provided with the Crucifix.  One handbook will contain daily devotions for prayer and reflection.  The second handbook contains suggested prayers that can be part of your daily activities after the Crucifix has been returned.  To participate in this program, please sign-up in the book located in the Vestibule of Church.

Lay Ministries

Lector

The lector proclaims the Word of God to the assembled faith community.  Men and women who accept the call to this ministry are presumed to be people of faith and lovers of Scripture, eager to serve the Christian community and willing to engage in ongoing formation and education.  The prophet Isaiah expresses this ministry well: “The Lord God has given me a well-trained tongue, that I may know how to speak to the weary a word that will rouse them.” Isaiah 50: 4-5 Contact Father 541-884-4242.

Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist

Eucharistic Ministers have the privilege of administering Holy Communion, the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, to our brothers and sisters in the congregation. Through this humble service, God unites you to your fellow members of the Body of Christ and forms all of us in the body. Your love for Christ present in the Eucharist and in His people will make the Body and Blood you minister to others genuine signs of Christ's self-sacrifice and your own. The Sacred Species that you minister to others will be outward signs of love that flow from the heart of Christ and from your own heart.

All ministers of Holy Communion should show the greatest reverence for the Most Holy Eucharist by their demeanor, their attire, and the manner in which they handle the consecrated bread or wine.
Contact Father 541-884-4242.

The Ministry of Altar Server

Altar Servers are a very important part of the Liturgy as they assist the priest on the Altar during Saturday and Sunday Masses and Holy Days throughout the year. Boys and girls who have received the Sacrament of First Holy Communion and are 4 th grade and older serve in this Ministry.
Contact Tami Lucht 541-882-7593.

Ministry of Holy Communion for the Sick and Homebound

The faithful who are ill are deprived of their rightful and accustomed place in the Eucharistic community. In bringing communion to them the Minister of Communion represents Christ and manifests faith and charity on behalf of the whole community toward those who cannot be present at the Eucharist. For the sick the reception of communion is not only a privilege but also a sign of support and concern shown by the Christian community for its members who are ill or temporarily/permanently homebound.
